Hallmark Awards Ceremonies are big news this week. As the British film industry recognises our wonderful home-grow talent with last night’s BAFTA awards, the entertainments industry now looks ahead to arguably the greatest awards ceremony of all: the Oscars.

The BAFTA’s and the Oscars are multi-million pound events attracting huge corporate sponsorship and exposure. However, awards ceremonies on a much smaller scale are a wonderful way to reward achievement, motivate productivity and promote excellence within your industry, or even within your own business or locality.

Police unit ‘Operation Podium’ hopes to have learnt how bogus ticket websites work after the scam websites that sold fake tickets were set up before Take That tickets went on sale in October 2010. They are closely monitoring for fake website that are claiming to sell tickets for the London Olympics 2012.

None of the 6.6 million tickets for London 2012 should be on sale before 15th March 2011.  Detective Chief Inspector Nick Downing told the BBC: “His top priority was to combat ticket fraud, especially bogus websites” The unit is currently running 16 operations.

The BBC promenade music season is the most famous classical music event in the world. Over a number of weeks, a vast array of serious music is offered from household Baroque composers such as Bach to contemporary figures such as Karl Jenkins.

The season culminates in an extravaganza of delicious pomp and festival at the Royal Albert Hall. ‘The Last Night of the Proms’ is now considered a global event, where the British love of classical music is celebrated in all its glory.

Being at the Royal Albert Hall on the last night of the Proms is not like attending any other music event. It’s about participation, excitement and belonging as well as music, orchestra and choir.
